Health and safety at Houghton International

Houghton International operates a Safety Management System that is certified by BSI to OHSAS 18001:2007. We put safety at the forefront of everything we do, and this ensures that we are legally compliant and that we address the risks to the business, our employees, customers, visitors and any other parties who may be affected by our activities. Our competence management system ensures that our employees at all levels of the organisation have the skills they need to carry out their work safely and to assess and manage risks in the course of their work.

How we manage health and safety onsite and offsite

Policies and procedures are in place, together with our safety training program to ensure that all our onsite and offsite activities are managed in a safe manner. Our management structure ensures that there is adequate supervision both on and off site and our competency management system ensures that our employees have the skills they need to carry out their work safely. We work closely with our customers to develop project specific health and safety plans and risk assessments, ensuring that we work safely whilst identifying hazards requiring control.
