A range of apprenticeship and training opportunities are available at Houghton International. We are committed to investing in the development of our employees, so we hire based on attitude and then deliver training to ensure our people have the skills they need.
Every employee at Houghton International has a Personal Development Plan (PDP), with regular one-to-one discussions scheduled to discuss training, development and progression opportunities in line with both personal and business needs.
Training available includes Level 2 qualifications in manufacturing or engineering and a Level 3 Modern Apprenticeship Programme in Engineering.
A Houghton International apprenticeship
Apprentices have always been an integral part of Houghton International’s workforce and are key to the future of the business.
Our apprentices divide their time between college and the workplace, learning as they work over the course of four years. With mentoring, a buddy system and regular progress reviews, we ensure every apprentice is supported and made to feel part of the team from the very start.
Our award-winning apprenticeship scheme, delivered in conjunction with Tyne North Training, results in formal qualifications through a combination of work-based learning and formal block release. The apprenticeship scheme follows a structured four-year Modern Apprenticeship Programme in Engineering, resulting in industry-recognised academic and vocational qualifications.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, there will be further opportunities for ongoing personal development, including HNC/HND qualifications and career progression within the company.
