The management at Houghton International are a skilled and specialist team that have one thing in common. We are all passionate about what we do.


  • Michael Mitten – Chief ExecutiveMichael Mitten

Starting out as an apprentice on the shop floor as a teenager, Michael learned the business from his parents Ron and Christine Mitten before taking on the Chief Executive role in 2005. With a focus on culture, innovation and product development Michael has lead the company through major transformation.

Under Michael’s leadership Houghton International has quadrupled its turnover and trebled its head count – celebrating our most successful year to date in 2015. Michael is focused on growing a sustainable business and making Houghton International a great place to work.


  • Craig Hutton – Operations DirectorCraig Hutton

Responsible for all three of Houghton International’s divisions, Craig oversees the smooth operation of Houghton International. Craig has been employed by Houghton International in various roles for almost 20 years, a time served armature winder, Craig has over 30 years’ experience in the repair of rotating machines.

Customer service is key and with the support of the operational teams Craig ensures that we provide a quality service that meets and exceeds customer expectations. Also responsible for R&D, Craig is involved in developing new products and coming up with innovative solutions to customers’ problems, for which we are renowned.


  • Chris Robson – Sales and Marketing DirectorChris Robson

Chris recently joined the board of directors following 10 years at Houghton International in various roles and brings a wealth of experience in both engineering and sales.

Starting out as a fitter in Houghton International’s Electro Mechanical Services division, Chris went on to manage the department before joining the sales team in 2014. Most recently Chris has been responsible for sales in the Rail services division of the company, delivering growth of 20% and a number of multi million pound projects. Chris leads the entire sales team with a focus on understanding the customers’ requirements and providing solutions to their needs.


  • Stuart Whitfield – High Voltage Coil Sales ManagerStuart Whitfield

Stu joined Houghton International in 1988 as our very first apprentice winder/fitter and 28 years later he is now our High Voltage Coil Sales Manager. Working internationally, Stu works with repairers, OEM’s and their customers to reduce costs and improve reliability, using our coil manufacturing expertise to extend the life of their electro mechanical assets.

There isn’t much that Stu doesn’t know about coils and customers value his input when it comes to selecting the right insulation system and coil design for their job. Stu is a frequent flyer and regularly visits customers in North America, Canada, Asia and Europe. He is an active EASA member and can always be found on our stand at the annual convention.


  • Lyndsey Gray – Sales Administrator

Lyndsey has been an integral part of the sales team for the last few years, providing administration support to the whole team she keeps the wheels turning ensuring quote requests, enquiries and orders are processed and responded to in a timely manner.

Absolutely customer focused, Lyndsey is always on hand to deal with any planned or emergency jobs and deals with customers on a global basis, providing support when needed. With incredible attention to detail she ensures our operations teams have all the information they need to deliver a fist class service.


  • Mark Convery – EMS Sales RepresentativeMark Convery

Starting out his career as a professional footballer Mark ‘transferred’ to Houghton International in 2011 and brings the same level of commitment to his customers that he did on the pitch. Following a brief stint in the repair shop it soon became obvious where Mark’s talents lay and he took responsibility for sales within our EMS division.

Employed across a range of sectors, Mark works with customers on both planned maintenance projects and emergency repairs to minimise downtime and maximise performance of motors, alternators and all electro mechanical rotating machines. Covering the industrial, power generation, marine and oil and Gas industries through the UK, Mark is usually found in his car and is always available to drop in for a discussion regarding what support is required and how we can help.
