Houghton International is proud to announce that their Rail Assistant Manager, Craig Byers, was awarded the 2019 EASA Karsten Moholt Exceptional Achievement Award at the EASA Region 9 AGM in Lisbon.
The award is made annually to an individual aged under 35 within the industry, who has demonstrated improvements within their company above and beyond expectations. The decision is made by the President and Vice President of EASA and a member of the Moholt family.
Craig was recognised for his fantastic progression, having started working at Houghton International as an apprentice over 14 years ago. He has since achieved a HND (Higher National Diploma) advanced engineering qualification, becoming the first apprentice in the business to achieve the qualification. He subsequently went onto be the first employee to achieve a ILM Leadership and Management qualification and is currently studying for a level 3 to develop his leadership skills further.
With Craig’s support our rail department has consistently grown its output by approx. 50% over the last five years. Month on month, performance consistently improves and the team regularly set new records for turnover and profit.
Chris Lisle, Head of Rail, commented: “Craig is vital to the successful operation of the Rail division. I couldn’t run the department without him. He not only supervises and oversees all of the work that goes out of the door, I often see him with tool in his hands, carrying out the work alongside the team to ensure customer deadlines are achieved.
“In addition to his day to day responsibilities, Craig studies extremely hard to develop both his engineering and leadership skills in in order to progress his career and has achieved a huge amount in a short space of time. I didn’t hesitate to recommend him for the Karsten Moholt Exceptional Achievement Award and I’m confident his team members and customers would agree.”
