Houghton International has become a member of RenewableUK, the UK’s largest renewable energy trade association. The move is part of the company’s strategy to expand its presence in the renewable energy industry and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.
Houghton International has seen a surge in demand for their repair, maintenance and life extension services for generators, motors, transformers and other electro mechanical assets as renewable energy technologies become more established. In particular, the business is working with an increasing number of wind farms, both within the UK and internationally, to improve performance and extend the life of generators and other key components.
To meet this growing demand, Houghton International is planning to invest upwards of £2 million over the next three years to upgrade its facilities to meet the evolving needs of the renewable energy industry. This includes improved lifting capacity and further developing their range of purpose-built, specialist tooling.
The UK’s leading not-for-profit renewable energy trade body, RenewableUK brings together over 450 members from SMEs to international energy companies, with a focus on the wind, wave & tidal, energy systems and storage and green hydrogen sectors.
Joining RenewableUK will enable Houghton International to benefit from the organisation’s expertise and network of industry professionals, as well as access to the latest information and best practices in the renewable energy sector. As a member, Houghton International will be able to participate in industry events, access expert insights, and collaborate with other member organisations to drive innovation and growth in the industry.
“We are thrilled to join RenewableUK and be part of the community of renewable energy professionals driving the industry forward,” said Jessica Pooley, Business Development Manager at Houghton International. “As renewable power generation assets age, owners and operators are seeking to get the most out of their equipment, keeping assets running better and for longer. With over 35 years of cross-sectoral experience, we offer a competitive, innovation-led approach to asset life extension, maintenance and repair, along with end-to-end project management support.
“The renewable energy sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, and we are proud to be at the forefront of the industry. Joining RenewableUK is an exciting next step for Houghton International as we continue to expand our service offering to meet the needs of this vital sector.”
Vicky Mant, Commercial Director at RenewableUK, added, “We’re delighted to welcome Houghton International as new members of RenewableUK. Their expertise in repair, maintenance and life extension services means that they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our organisation which will help the renewable energy sector to grow even faster. Houghton International’s strategy to expand its presence and be at the forefront of the UK’s transition to a Net Zero and low-carbon economy is extremely important, not only in attracting investment and creating highly skilled jobs, but also another company taking practical action against climate change”.
