Taiyo generator problems

The M.V. HSIN HO is a Japanese vessel that ran into some generator problems whilst en-route to the North Sea. We were contacted by the ship owner's representatives direct from Japan to see if we could help.

The ship diverted to the Port of Tyne where we assisted in the unloading of the generator from the vessel, brought it to our works and carried out 24 hour emergency service including:

• Exciter stator and rotor rewind
• Spiral welded bearing journals
  
• Re-metal the bearings
  
• Completely overhauled the entire unit
• Supplied and installed a new AVR
• Vacuum packaged for freight
• Air freighted the unit to meet the vessel in Rotterdam before its next sailing

And all this done within 3 days over a weekend in the height of summer. Needless to say, we had a very happy customer!
